In June 2021, Egon Spengler catches a substance in soothsayer Ivo Shandor's mine in Summerville, Oklahoma, and draws a different animal to his homestead. Egon initiates an intricate arrangement in his ground, yet the power falls flat, and he hides the phantom snare in his home prior to being gone after by the animal and experiencing a deadly coronary failure.

His alienated, monetarily striving girl Callie acquires the homestead, and moves there with her youngsters Trevor and Phoebe subsequent to being removed from their Chicago loft. Trevor becomes captivated by carhop Lucky Domingo, and the logically disapproved of Phoebe signs up for a late spring science class instructed by seismologist Gary Grooberson.

Phoebe finds the farmhouse is spooky and the phantom living in it drives her to the apparition trap, which she shows to Gary and her new companion Podcast. Gary, an enthusiast of the Ghostbusters, assists Phoebe with finding out about them and her granddad. He, Phoebe, and Podcast alter the snare, delivering one of Gozer the Gozerian's Sentinels that departures to the mine. The homestead apparition drives Phoebe to Egon's underground research facility and, in the wake of uncovering himself as her granddad, directs her in reestablishing the Ghostbusters' hardware.
